A man has been killed after his car hit a ditch in Co Cork in the early hours of this morning.

The collision occurred between 00.30am and 3.20am this morning at Kennelworth, Youghal, when the car left the road and hit a ditch.

The 27-year-old driver was killed and has been removed to Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí are investigating and the road is closed for a forensic collision examination with diversions in place.
